ANDROIDified…!
Precisely for any user an effective
smartphone is computer + phone + organizer + entertainment + photography camera
+ SAT-NAV. All of it under a single button or tap away…. But until October 2008
release of HTC Dream (T-Mobile G1) all this was available to a selected genre
of customers such as enterprises or corporates or professionals under symian or
windows operating system.
There was nothing that could tend
to the needs of every next door person, nothing in the smartphone market till October
2008 could cater to people who did a lot and at times more than the corporates
and professionals. Right in the month of October 2008 with HTC Dream’s entry;
an operating system enters the market, ANDROID it is….!! Android is the simplest,
most grossing, most cost-effective, user-friendly, constantly innovative and
creative, largest consumer based, developer friendly, most versatile and
dynamic smartphone operating system. But wait, before you read the entire post
and nod in agreement that ANDROID is simply awesome let me define an android
device for you… So an android device is basically a smartphone, phablet, tablet
or p.c. that runs on an android operating system which is based on Linux based
software platform and also is the simplest, most grossing, most cost-effective,
user-friendly, constantly innovative and creative, largest consumer based,
developer friendly, most versatile and dynamic voice controlled smartphone that
offers all that google can offer right from search to gmail and maps to voice
control, its users simply on the house (you don’t have to pay anything extra on
the phone to use most of those services)…. All of this stuff packed inside a single
device and what else could one demand for.
Right from Alpha then Beta,
Cupcake, Donut, Éclair and spanning through Froyo, Ginger-bread, Honeycomb, Ice
Cream Sandwich, and Jellybean till the latest ‘just-in’ version Lollipop the
major trend of nomenclature has been on the basis of a confectionary. And very
interestingly all it has done is make our lives easier and sweeter so in my
opinion the confectionery genre naming is well justified. The most important
feature that Android OS or AOSP has is its ability to suit up to anybody and
everybody’s needs and with that huge app bank; there is no way one can ever be
left alone.
It is essential to understand that today
android has become the most extensive component to the lifestyle of all sorts
of people be it a rickshaw puller, a driver, a student, a lawyer, a delivery
boy, a manager, a CEO or even a house wife. Major USPs being; the variety of devices
available in the market brand-wise and model-wise, there is an android for every
type of pocket/budget (that’s what the market says), then the variety of apps
and the options available in each genre of app, the open source nature of
android, ease of use, constant improvisations and upgrades/updates etc. They
have all worked pretty good as far as I’m concerned. The major highlight is
that the android developers have kept in mind the human psychology of getting
easily tired and bored of something monotonous and hence they keep on improving
the user experience and OS as a whole so that every time the user grabs one of
the android devices, he/she is in for a new experience every time.
Apple might have become a status
symbol or Windows might be a very fancy or classy brand name but at the end the
day the verdict globally is in favour of ANDROID devices because there are limitless
possibilities when you use an android device and as a true android fan all I’d
say is ‘the fun has just begun’….!!!
